What this website collects, what it does not, and how to reach us about it.
Ben Calf Robe Society works with families and children, so we take care with information. This page explains what happens when you use this website. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, call us at (780) 477-6648 and ask.
What the website collects on its own
Nothing that identifies you. This website does not use cookies and does not use Google Analytics or any advertising tracker.
We do count visits. A small counter provided by Cloudflare, the company that hosts the site, records that a page was viewed, the type of device, the country, and the site a visitor came from. It does not record who you are, does not set a cookie, and does not follow you to other websites. We look at these counts to see which pages people find useful.
Like every website, our hosting company keeps short-term technical logs of requests for security reasons. We do not use those logs to identify visitors.
When you send us a form
The contact form, the foster care contact form and the foster care application form send what you type to Ben Calf Robe Society staff by email. Depending on the form, that can include your name, email address, phone number, the area you live in, your experience, and anything you write in the message box.
Form messages are delivered through a relay service called Web3Forms and then live in our email and program records. We use what you send to answer you and, for foster care, to begin the conversation about becoming a caregiver. Foster care information is handled under the confidentiality practices of that program.
Please do not put a child's name, a file number, or details about a family's situation into a web form. Call the program directly instead.
The Safety Exit button
The red Safety Exit button, and pressing the Escape key three times, sends your browser to a weather website so you can leave this site quickly. It does not erase your browsing history. If you need to, clear your history afterward, or use a private browsing window.
The foster parents page
The Current Foster Parents page sits behind a shared passcode so that forms and training information are easy for caregivers to find. That passcode is a convenience, not a security lock, and nothing on that page names a child or a family. Anything of that kind is shared with caregivers directly by the program, never through the website.
Other companies involved
A few outside services help run this site. Cloudflare hosts it and provides the visit counter, and may process technical data outside Canada. Google provides the fonts and the map on the Contact page, so your browser requests those files from Google when a page loads. Web3Forms relays form messages to us. CanadaHelps handles donations on its own website under its own privacy policy. Links to Facebook and Instagram take you to those companies' websites.
Children
This website is written for adults: parents, caregivers, community members and partners. We do not knowingly collect information from children through it.
Your rights
Under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of those, call (780) 477-6648 or write to us at 12046 - 77 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5B 2G7, and ask for the person responsible for privacy.
Changes
If we change how this website handles information, we will update this page and the date below.
